Leaf Spring Mount (LSM): A Proven Solution for Shock and Vibration Protection

Originally designed to safeguard marine equipment from underwater explosions, the Leaf Spring Mount (LSM) has evolved into a versatile solution for various applications in both military and civilian sectors. While modern shock mount technologies have emerged, the LSM remains a reliable choice for specific scenarios due to its robust construction and effective damping properties.

Construction and Design The LSM’s core design comprises multiple high-tensile stainless steel U-shaped leaves, interconnected to form an elliptical shape. The gaps between these leaves are filled with a specialized epoxy resin compound, engineered to dissipate shock energy efficiently. The choice of metal construction and the properties of the epoxy resin determine the mount’s performance under shock loads.

The Y-Mount variant incorporates an additional rubber element at the top, significantly enhancing sound isolation compared to the standard X-Mount configuration.
